Abstract

The presentation outlines the ongoing national effort led by the ASOF Seismic Safety Committee to modernize Armenia’s seismic safety framework through coordinated collaboration with the Urban Development Committee (UDC), the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia (NUACA), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and the American Concrete Institute (ACI). It highlights recent milestones, including formal partnerships, code localization initiatives, and the establishment of the NUACA ACI Student Chapter. The talk emphasizes the strategic integration of ASCE 41 with ACI retrofit standards and certification programs to build a comprehensive, technically robust system for assessment, design, and implementation. Finally, it presents the roadmap for capacity building, professional training, and institutional alignment needed to elevate Armenia’s seismic resilience and position the country as a regional leader in modern earthquake engineering practice.
