
Armenia’s hosting of the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) marks a new chapter in the country’s emergence as a contributor to global environmental policy and biodiversity governance. This segment explores the significance of COP17, focusing on the implementation of the CBD and the goals and targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. The segment also examines the current state of biodiversity policy in Armenia. It also considers the growing importance, both nationally and internationally, of science-policy platforms in informing decision-making and supporting evidence-based implementation of biodiversity commitments.
