Abstract

Armenia’s increasing engagement with the technology of AI brings great promise and value: new possibilities not only in business but also in areas such as  health and education. But the arrival of this powerful technological tool also poses genuine concerns regarding its societal impact. This panel examines three domains where the human stakes are especially high: education, environment, and employment. Drawing on the work of FORSEE, a Horizon Europe project with AUA's Center for Ethics in Public Life as a key partner, the contributions begin from the premise that the criteria for AI success must be rebuilt from social and human foundations rather than technical benchmarks alone and that concern regarding the social dimension of AI policies and regulations should be inseparable from the investments in the technology in Armenia and beyond.
