Abstract

Earthquakes have historically affected the uplands of the Armenian Highland. The 1988 Spitak Earthquake revealed Armenia’s building stock seismic vulnerability. Many Soviet-era structures lack adequate seismic resistance; even post-Soviet buildings are at risk. ASOF Seismic Safety Task Force aims priori􏰀zing seismic safety by assessing retrofi􏰁ng methodologies, improving design codes, collabora􏰀ng with experts and the community.
