City life and tips

Yerevan is a very walkable city. In the center, you can get from one end to the other in about one hour. Restaurant prices range from $5 to $100+ per person, depending on the type of food. Cultural events can be quite cheap, from a few dollars to hundreds, depending on the performance. Generally, $10-$15/person/day is a minimum for a tourist, discounting lodging.

In Armenia hotels, restaurant bills, taxi fares, guide and driver services, etc. generally include tax and service. Tips are therefore not required, however, may be given for an excellent service as a sign of appreciation.

About Dilijan

Situated in the north-east of Armenia, the resort town of Dilijan is ideally secluded from the hustle and bustle of city life, yet just a one and a half-hour drive from downtown Yerevan. Dilijan nestles in forested mountains with a temperate climate, fresh air, and mineral water springs. Lush forests of the Dilijan National Park, Lake Parz, and the 13th-century monastic complexes of Haghartsin and Goshavanq create a unique environment for spiritual harmony and awakening.

The people of Dilijan are gentle, friendly, and cosmopolitan. For centuries, they have been exposed to different cultures and religions.  Armenian traditional arts and crafts are at the heart of the town’s everyday life. One can visit many of the artisans’ stores and learn about the process. Due to long-lived traditions, Dilijan’s art gallery hosts a great collection of paintings and sculptures of famous artists.

Lavish opportunities for outdoor recreational activities include mountain hiking and biking. Enjoying an evening with friends in one of the many local gourmet restaurants would guarantee a memorable experience. The famous local gourmet cuisine is rich with the local organic vegetables, dairies, and meat products.
